As part of sustainability-related disclosures, PGE CG is obliged to present information regarding the adopted Transition plan for climate change mitigation. As of the date of publication of this Statement, PGE CG had not yet adopted a formally approved document on the above matters.
PGE CG continues to take actions aimed at transformation based on the adopted business strategy, which includes a broad range of measures aimed at sustainable development and minimising environmental impact. Based on this document and decisions of the relevant corporate bodies, PGE CG is implementing, among others, a programme for the construction of offshore wind farms, the Decarbonisation Plan for district heating networks, a programme for the construction of onshore wind and photovoltaic farms, and is intensively modernising distribution networks in response to new technical and climate-related challenges.
From the perspective of PGE CG’s environment, key developments include work on the National Energy and Climate Plan, the extension of the capacity market mechanism, and political decisions on the timeline for phasing out coal-based energy generation. These documents and decisions are of fundamental importance for the Transition Plan regarding the Conventional Generation segment, given the scale of PGE’s impact on the Polish economy and its influence on the stability of the National Power System.
At the same time, PGE CG is making every effort to ensure transparency of its actions and intentions regarding the transition and mitigation of environmental impact. Importantly, the Group has adopted a target of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 and continues to work on developing and implementing a strategy that in future may be transformed into a comprehensive Transition Plan, in line with the requirements of sustainable development and climate protection.
As at the date of publication of the report, PGE CG has not set a date for adopting a Transition Plan. The Group intends to begin work on the Plan after finalising actions on the relevant guidelines and after defining the decarbonisation path for the Polish energy sector, which will be decisive for PGE CG’s climate targets and will enable the definition of plans and policies aligned with the expected pace of transition.
